2nd PDSA / PDCA Workshop for Maersk Line Saudi Arabia

Saturday 15th December 2012:

After the first successful PDSA / PDCA training workshop, last September, it was time for the second round. Week 50, I conducted 2nd PDSA workshop for another batch of employees.

It was a full day workshop for Maersk Line employees on the basic Process Excellence  tools and techniques.
The event was arranged at Park Hyatt Jeddah and had 17 participants. Participants were nominated by their Function managers.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  • Build awareness regarding Process Excellence Tools and Techniques.
  • Support people in identifying Improvement opportunities and Implementing these based on facts supporting statistics.
  • Encourage teams to work / support cross functionally.
  • Providing training opportunities to employees and identifying the potential talent for further training and development.
During the workshop the Teams were introduced to the following concepts:

The new concept this time is that three of the Saudi Cluster Functional heads were invited to attend the workshop. These Functional heads were each provided with one simple PEX concept that they came prepared with and then presented during the workshop. The idea has worked well in terms of gaining significant ownership from all teams.

Process Excellence Week in Saudi: 2-5th Dec 2012

2nd to 5th December: Process Excellence Week in Saudi

IQPC arranged the first Process Excellence Week in KSA from 2 - 5 December 2012 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The summit was an effort of bringing the Process Excellence community together for exceptional networking, knowledge sharing and bench-marking.

It was an excellent opportunity to network with leaders from different industries in the region involved with Lean Six Sigma. Also a good opportunity to not only understand the common challenges that the community faces these days in KSA, but also the solutions and initiatives that have worked successfully for many companies.

The event was a unique cross-industry platform for sharing and debating best practices in Lean, Six Sigma, quality and change management. It also provided with a deeper understanding of process excellence initiatives within the region.

Major contributions during the conference were from:

  • Eli Lilly
  • Mobily
  • Zahid Tractors (CAT)
  • King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
